What I liked
The Day Unit was not the same hospital I attended in 2005.What a credit to the staff.I saw everyone working very hard and mentioned this to them.I was so impressed.
I had to stay overnight, the night staff explained who they were and what they could and would do for us.Night calls from fellow residents were answered quickly and politely.Couild this really be an NHS hospital?
What could be improved
At the check-in,I had no problem with the long wait but many patients had no reading material and there were no magazines.Happy to donate some.
The scrum which followed could be avoided. The admissions process seemed to involve three checks at three offices.Patients did not have a clue if they were going for a check or to surgery and were rushing aroung with overnight bags. The process should be spelt out.Surely cannot be cost effective for expensive staff wandering round the foyer looking for patients.Conversely, where some staff were used some had poor English and were unable to prononounce common English names. This was stressful fot those hard of hearing ,like me.
Anything else?
Yes,put the tems and conditions at the front of this section.I have had to re-type this post as after reading the t&cs i lost my comments paging back
