It is now 2 weeks since my vitrectomy operation and today I had an appointment with my consultant. After the scan, which I regret to say I did blink! Apologies for that! The consultant was pleased with the result and I am absolutely exstatic because just after two weeks I have been given the all clear for driving. My vision was very blurred for a couple of days but gradually improved. The black dots lasted another few days but gradually diminished until I am left with just the occassional little squirly thing? Does not worry me or interfere with the vision.I have read all the various writings on this operation and I would say that perhaps the successful people do not bother to put there experience into print. Follow the advice given use the drops as instructed and all will be well.

I shall forever be grateful to my team. I accept with old age anything else can happen but it is a case of seize the day.

I was given a three month prescription for my eye drops and here I have a few words to say on the pharmacy at St Mary's. The waiting area is truly first class and naturally one has to wait. It is as well to remember that although there may be just one or two people in the waiting room this department has to dispense to all the other patients in the hospital, in and out. I did not mind the at all and the Friends of St Mary's run a very reasonable price buffet and gift shop, newspapers etc., I also managed to see friends who were visiting, well at our age the hospital becomes a social event.

I am to return for another update with the consultant in one month, Meanwhile if you are waiting for a vitrectomy, don't just read the bad press.

Absolutely all first class on the day.
