"A&e"

About: The Princess Royal Hospital / Accident and emergency

Went to A&E on Sunday afternoon around 4:30 after having chest pains earlier in the day. Was still feeling tightness in my chest so went to a&e. Arrived there, waited about 2 hours to be seen by a doctor who took my bloods then gave me an ECG (and proceeded to tell me I'm too young to have a heart attack). Got my ECG results within half an hour, then told to wait for my blood results. Waited 3 hours. Everybody else in a&e came and left and I was still waiting there. Asked a nurse how much longer it would take, and kept getting fobbed off. In the end, after about 4 hours, a nurse told me they had got the results (they appear to have lost them). I then got lied to and told the doctor couldn't find me, even though I had not moved from the waiting area for 4 hours. Then told my results were fine and to go home. Feel completely fobbed off and lied to. Don't even trust that they even did my blood test! I've received amazing care from PRH in the past. What happened?? Gone completely downhill. Unless I'm on deaths door, I won't be returning.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. I am sorry that you did not receive the care that you would expect from our Emergency Department. If you would like us to investigate this further, please do not hesitate to contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service at the Princess Royal Hospital who will be happy to assist you.

I have also passed on your comments to the Ward Manager and Matron for the Emergency Department as well as the Operational Managers.

Kind Regards,

Patient Experience Team
