"The staff were friendly and helpful. ..."

About: Kettering General Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

The staff were friendly and helpful. The choice of food was good and the ward was very clean.

What could be improved

The communication between the ward and the specialists I'm sure if there was more communciation I would have felt less distressed and I would have not have felt like I was holding a bed up. Not being moved in the middle of the night to another ward because of a lack of beds. The ward had no toilets in had to walk down the corrider and no shower facilities. Someone on the day I left talking about patients in a loud voice like we were no-bodies asking a doctor when the beds would be ready for use. I also sat in the departure lounge for over 1 hour waiting for paperwork and medication

Anything else?

The care I have received since being at home has been brilliant. Especially from my doctor. They treat people with care and compassion and like you are the only one that matters.

Response from Kettering General Hospital

Firstly may I thank you for bringing to my attention what seems like a less than satisfactory experience whilst you were treated at Kettering General Hospital.

It is always our intention to give the best possible care to patients; however it seems that on this occasion this was not always the case for you. I would be happy to look into the issues you have raised in more detail and would ask that you contact me in order that I can discuss these with you further.

I am sorry that your experience of Kettering General was not of the standard that you should have expected and I look forward to hearing from you.
