What could be improved
Their does not seem to be any other place I can register these initial comments so I hope you can pass them on to the relevant person etc.
I will expect a reply to these intial comments.
An elderly relative of mine recently was brought to the Blackburn royal from another hospitsal, she
had broken her hip on Holiday.
I have to say that I have been less than impressed by the way she was cared for in the week or so she was in the Royal.
This is a list of issues to give you a feel for why this is the case.
Moving into three different beds during her stay.
The staff lost her notes and a far as I know did not find them before she was discharged.
Lack of diligence monitoring/ dressing of blisters which were common I believe following the type of Surgery she had had i.e. a partial hip replacement.
Lack of monitoring initially until prompted by relatives of a low blood count.
Being taken for a non-emergency x ray at eleven o,clock at night!!! We are talking here of an 80 year old lady with a partial Hip replacement who was woken up to go for this x ray! this is a no brainer!
Discharged with no clear instructions on after care etc.
I must stress these are the main issues there were a few other minor issues that I am not going to list here.
In short I certainly do not think her care has been worthy of living in a modern soceity in 2010 after all we are not a third world country yet!
Anything else?
As I said i will expect a reply to this before I decide whether I need to pursue this matter further.
