"Eye Department"

About: Eastbourne District General Hospital

Attended DGH on 7th November at 9.45. Waited until 10.30 and asked how much longer to be told another hour at least. To have an appointment and wait two hours to be seen is unacceptable. I was told they were busy and replied that I was busy too. Very poor service and reminded me of the appalling Sussex Eye Hospital in Brighton.

We sincerely apologise that you encountered a long wait to be seen at the Eye clinic recently.

It is an incredibly busy department, and staff work hard to try and arrange for patients to be seen as quickly as possible, however, a two hour wait is clearly unacceptable, and we apologise for your poor experience.

Please be assured that your posting will be shared with the Department Manager and General Manager for Ophthalmology, both of who would be happy to speak with you in person to provide an explanation and apologise.

If you would like to do this, please contact our Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS) who can make these arrangements.

PALS can be contacted on 01323 435886 or by email at esh-tr.PALSE@nhs.net.
