"the care i got during the stages ..."

About: Peterborough Maternity Unit

(as the patient),

What I liked

the care i got during the stages of labour. had 2 different midwives due to overnight change in staff shifts and i felt the handling over info was fantastic and the 2nd midwife was thoroughly informed to my stage of labour etc and my wishes

What could be improved

the after care was awful to put it nicely. i had to have an emergency c section and was stuck in bed. took ages for a midwife to come to my assistance after buzzing several times. was left in my sanitary protection for hours and hours resulting in me leaking over the bed whilst had visitors and because of this i ended up with some very uncomfortable and sore patches which lead to scabs on my bottom. support for breastfeeding was very minimal and had one midwife raise her voice and basically tell me to put my baby back on my breast even though my baby had fallen asleep. she returned several times after 5 mins and repeated the raised voice.in the end i asked for a different midwife and i then felt my only option was to bottle feed my newborn baby.

Anything else?

due in december again with my 2nd baby and im dreading it. im hoping the new hospital will be open by then and they have more staff and staff that support us new mothers
