I had a small Day Care operation yesterday for an abscess on my hand. From my arrival at 6.30am to the Surgical Admin reception on Level 7 to my discharge at 3.30pm on Level 2 I cannot praise all of the staff highly enough. Everyone that I encountered made me feel like an individual and was most friendly, informative and helpful. They all were able to reassure me and put me at my ease. Even though my op was minor in the scale of things I was made to feel that I was important and everything was explained to me patiently. Every step of the way was made smooth for me. The theatre team were magnificent, my three anaesthetists were wonderful and dealt with me efficiently and with good humour to calm my fears of the general anaesthetic, my surgeon who I met prior to my op. gave me complete confidence and this was well founded, he did a good job. On waking on the Recovery ward back on Level 2 ,once more, smiling faces, kind and caring and a much needed marmite on toast. And, the toast was warm - delicious. Discharge carried out efficiently and I was given dressings to take to my local surgery and details of help should I need it and I was even walked to my daughter's car for pick up. Thank you so much for everything. I had a choice of Exeter or Torbay and I am delighted to have chosen Torbay and will certainly choose them again should I need to and will definitely recommend this great hospital.,
"A huge thank you to the wonderful staff of Day..."
