"Failed to spot an infection"

About: Royal Victoria Hospital (Folkestone) (Folkestone)

Went to the walk on centre after work as in pain and unable to walk.

Saw a nurse and showed them the area that was really red and swollen and warm to touch. Explained it was very painful and come on within last 24-48hrs.

I was Told to buy over the chemist counter some foot treatment for fungus and sent away.

Next morning was really bad had an appt with GP first thing who diagnosed as a major infection and if left would need to go to A&E for IV antibiotics. So not happy with the visit, if it's that bad don't bother just go to A&E at least it will be diagoned there and then.

I am sorry to learn that the nurse at the walk-in centre was unable to diagnose your condition.

From what you describe, your foot was very sore.

However, I am glad that you went to see your GP as this was the appropriate avenue for advice rather than A&E.

I hope that your foot is now 'on the mend' and the swelling soon goes down.
