I am so upset with my GP surgery. The manager seems to have made a policy that if you have an urgent need to see the Doctor, you have to call at 8.30.
When you call at 8.30 I find the phone is constantly busy. So you are unwell and you are trying to call at 8.30 to see a Doctor you may get through or you may not.
If you get through the receptionist asks you what the emergency is. You reply I have a severe headache you get a reply from someone at reception, "that is not an emergency"
I say yes it is it’s hurting me real bad. Reply you get is, "ok you can see the doctor in two weeks time". I can’t wait two weeks, I am in pain. “You can see another Doctor at 4.30PM"
So you think ok let me email my regular GP may be he will be able to help. Even he replies "the best I can do is I can see you in one week"
I go to walk in surgery and I was told that by a Doctor that I should really go to my own GP as my blood pressure is on border line, he can’t request any blood tests or any x-rays but he can give me a prescription that I already have.
Finally I go and see the doctor in my surgery. She examines me and says I will have to go quickly with the letter she gives me saying that the situation may be serious if not seen urgently.
So now it has become an emergency! I go to A & E with the doctor’s letter and they did attend quickly, did the blood test and guess what the report did not come, I waited till 9.30 PM the report did not come.
I feel like my day has ended without anybody helping me with my headache, I am still suffering a headache and I am worried what could be the cause of it.
It is as if my GP surgery is ruled by some receptionists who feel like they can decide the urgency of a patient. I think they speak the lines that they have been programmed by the surgery manager. I find some of them rude when it comes to having a relationship with patients.
I do hardly go to the surgery but now I am in constant pain with my back my lower abdomen and I suffer a severe headache. And I feel like some people at my surgery do not care.
"Some people at my GP surgery do not care"
