I'd like to thank the NHS for the excellent care I received after having a miscarriage. I was 6 weeks pregnant and on holiday in Cubert, Cornwall, with my husband and our dog. It happened on a Sunday so I couldn't call my own GP. This and the fact that we were in a strange place made it all the more distressing. But after calling the NHS 111 service I was soon put at ease by the doctor who called me back. The doctor was very reassuring and made me an appointment at the Royal Cornwall Hospital's Early Pregnancy Unit for the following morning. I was amazed at how the doctor was able to do this at around 8pm on a Sunday night and so very grateful. The care I received by the staff at the Royal Cornwall Hospital was also second to none, from Maternity Reception through to the nurses. I want to thank all the staff for helping me through what was a very emotional time. If there was one thing that could be improved, it would be the transfer of care. Having to explain everything that had happened to my GP was quite stressful. Just one call from the hospital to my GP would have avoided this and made it a much smoother transition. I appreciate this isn't common practice but thought it might be worth mentioning in case anything can be changed in the future.
"Excellent care from NHS 111 service and Early..."
