"Good things and the things that could be better"

About: Rampton Hospital

(as a volunteer/advocate),

, I am a volunteer from Rosewood Involvement Centre posting on behalf of a patient

Some feedback I received whilst doing interview training

Good things about Rampton is that my treatment is really good and I have been able to help myself.

When they are not cancelled, the OT skills such as plumbing and bricklaying are great.

The Chiltern Day Care Centre is really good.

Things that could be better:

There are too many changes of staff, I am on my third doctor, second psychologist and fourth social worker. Communication between staff and patients could be better.

Please reduce cancellation of sessions.

We are pleased to hear that patients have found their treatment to be good and that they feel that they have been involved in their recovery. We believe in delivering personalised, proactive and patient-led care and treatment with the hope of positive patients' experience of our services and positive ehancement of their recovery.

Thank you for raising the concern about cancellations. In response to patients' concerns about not being able to access activities in Chiltern, we have produced a new activitiy timetable, have recruited more staff in the day care services and on the wards. We are also closely monitoring the reasons for the closures. Armed with this information, patients, clinicians and management will together look at ways to proactively and positively find ways to keep the day care services open.

The Clinical Director apologises for the number of changes of Responsible Clinicians in the Persoanlity Disorder (PD) service but this was due to the fact that we have had a Consultant Psychiatrist on long term sickness for nearly 18 months and have had to cover that absence with locum appointments on short term contracts.

In regard to good communication, the modern matron has resurrected the Friday tours to hear the specific concerns and address them in a timely manner with patients, the ward managers and staff. In addition the General Manager and Modern Matron attend all the Directorate Servicer User Groups.

Action plans from complaints and minutes from ward community meetings have been displayed in the individual wards. They will now also be displayed in day care services and meeting rooms so that all patients, staff and management are aware of the issues and contribute to solving them.
