"I am sorry to say that I would ..."

About: Sandwell General Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I am sorry to say that I would not recommend this hospital to anyone. The treatment was in ICU and the general attitude of all the nursing staff, especially the male nurses was exteremely disappointing. The staff seemed to go out of their way to be rude. Completely uncooperative.

It was clear that after a few days, that they couldn't care less about patients as long as the bed was clear. This was actually said on one occassion.

My advice would be to never go to this hospital and always insist on going to a a hospital run by the UHB trust in Birmingham, Selly Oak or QE.

Although by no means perfect, these are both hospitals where generally you can expect a better level of care and sensitivity.

What could be improved

Staff need to understand that their negative attitude and general misdemenaour of not caring needs to be changed, especially in ICU.

To be honest, it is difficult to say where to start, they just do not seem to care.
