What could be improved
My mother was admitted a couple of days ago still trying to recover from an acute medical condition which has left her dependent upon others and very frail. However when I visited and spoke to medical staff the assumption was that this was the normal state of my mother. I am currently trying to drive daily to see her ( 1 1/2 hr journey) to be an advocate for her because I honestly don't believe anyone is treating her like a person, more like a doddery old foge who will get what she gets. I feel like I am being a nusiance whem I ask for information or clarifiaction of what is going on. She has not had her bowels open for 7 days but that doesn't seem to be a concern even though she is now having physical symptoms ie nausea. She is barely eating I estimate approx 500 cals per day and again doesn't seem to be a concern.Thank goodness I have 23 years experience of the NHS to know what to say and to whom. It feels like a battle. I hope she makes it.
