"I was referred to the Breast Care ..."

About: Queen Elizabeth I I Hospital (Welwyn Garden City)

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was referred to the Breast Care Clinic after finding a lump. I visited my GP on the Monday and by that Friday I had an appointment letter for the following Thursday, impressive by anyone's standards!

At the hospital I found them extremely warm & understanding of my fears and situation. I was given a mammogram that same morning and given the opportunity to see the physician I had seen who gave me preliminary feedback of the results. The radiographer was superb, very friendly & made a worrying procedure much more bearable. I was given an appointment to see the consultant before I left and the written confirmation arrived only 2 days later.

All in all a fantastic service, and they really seemed to be all too aware how terrifying finding a breast lump is.

So far in my treatment I cannot fault them all, including the warm receptionist.

Anything else?

I thought the friendly car park attendant very helpful too - worried that my appointment might take me over my alloted car park ticket time he advised just to phone down & give the car reg number.

Thank you for your feedback, which is very helpful - we will make sure that it is passed on to the breast unit team (including the radiographers) and to the parking service too. In the meantime, we wish you well for the future.
