"Mostly amazing staff"

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

My father was in the AMU B ward. On arrival the staff were amazing, caring and dedicated. My dad was quickly made comfortable, assessed and we were all offered drinks etc. The staff worked relentlessly with all the patients, listening, cleaning and caring for them non stop, the atmosphere was cheerful, caring and very efficient. The following day different staff were on the ward, unfortunately the standards dropped dramatically. The sister in charge only seemed interested in freeing beds. Thye Couldn't read the consultants notes and didn't bother to find out what it all meant anyway. When my dad needed help, they just said they would get someone and no one came for ages. The care and attention to detail were lacking, The nurses hardly spoke to the patients, the atmosphere was dreadful no team work.. It was like a different hospital, day 3 Different staff, again abs amazing, the team couldn't do enough for all the patients and worked non stop. I can't thank or praise them enough. So caring, so cheerful, so efficient. So day one and day 3 staff thank you you are a credit to your professional. Dad sadly passed away in the coronary unit and again the care in that ward was outstanding. Thank you xx

Thank you for your feedback on your late father’s admission to AMU B at Royal Blackburn Hospital and thank-you for taking the time to provide this.

First of all please accept my sincere condolences on your loss.

I am really pleased you that you were happy with the care provided by the majority of the staff on AMUB, and also on the Coronary Care Unit and I will ensure your comments are passed onto the team who I am sure will be delighted to receive such positive feedback.

I am however, sorry to hear that you did have some concerns during the admission and again I will ensure that your feedback is brought to the attention of the relevant staff.

If you would like to provide us with further information about your father’s admission so we can understand both the positive and negative aspects of the experience we would really value this.

You can either contact me (Melissa Almond) on 01254 734087 or by email at patientexperience@elht.nhs.uk.

Many thanks and Best Wishes

Melissa Almond
