I visited the Hysteroscopy department to have a fibroid removed. I was told about a 'Mirena' which apparently would help regulate and lighten my heavy periods( which may have been caused by the fibroid) but I was not told that it was actually a 'coil'. After the fibroid was removed whilst still on the operating table I was asked again if I would like to have the Mirena fitted and so I agreed as the doctor recommended it.
I found out that evening when I was looking for details on the Mirena that I had actually had a 'coil' fitted which I have always been against having this because I have known people that have had problems with it and now I have not been feeling well myself with continuous bleeding and headaches and have just found out that my blood pressure is higher than ever before.
I now have an appointment this Friday with my surgery to have it removed.
I do not understand why It was recommended to have this fitted straight after having the fibroid removed which I was initially told that the fibroid was probably the main cause of my irregular and heavy bleeding and so now after almost 5 weeks my body may be almost back to normal but instead I have suffered with other symptoms.
I must say though that the staff in the department were all lovely but I am just a little upset that I was offered this awful object which I must say that I will be happy to see the back of.
"more information please"
