"My son's stay on ward E5"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a parent/guardian),

My son was admitted to Ward E5 and stayed for 3 days.

The Nurses and Doctors who attended to him were excellent. I couldn't have asked for better care. Everyone was so nice and helpful - the cleaning staff, dinner ladies, learning mentor, play staff, etc

They were friendly, courteous, professional and all displayed a natural affinity for kids - which is very important when working with children.

My son is 14 years old and they treated him with respect all through. Everything was explained step by step to him, his questions were never ignored and he was never made to feel like a little kid or like his opinions didn't matter.

The room my son stayed in was spacious, airy and very clean. It felt like a home away from home and less like a hospital environment, which helps when you're often in hospital.

I have been in many hospitals with my son over the years due to his chronic illness and Royal Bolton comes out top. If Royal Bolton had a specialist haematology department, my son would be happy to use Bolton instead of Oxford Road every single time he has to go into the hospital.

Thank you so much for posting this. Young teenagers do need to be involved with their care and it is good to know that our staff respected him and his opinions. Your comments will be much appreciated by our staff and will be reassuring to other parents. We wish you and your son all the best.
