About: The James Cook University Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

Hello my name is Bert, and I am writing to you as a gesture of my appreciation, for the wonderful care and treatment, I received during my recent visit to Ward 28.

Everyone was brilliant, and nothing was any trouble for them ,The Doctors and Nursing Staff were first class, and I wouild like to say a special thank you to the doctor, who discussed my medical situation with great understanding and compassion with me.

Also, still with Ward 28, big thank you to the Tea/ Dinner, Coffee person, who was a “Diamond” ( sorry I am not too good remembering names although I was disappointed that they would not let me wash-up.( ELF “N” SAFETY Y’ Know ) Mind you, I did mange to help one of the Nurses, by making half a bed, ( My Hospital Corners need a lot more practice ) I would like to thank the Cleaning ladies too, for being so meticulous. ( No MRSA on this Ward )

Would you please, be so kind as to pass on my heartfelt thanks and appreciation. To the Staff at Ultra Sound and the CT Scan staff. Also the MRI Team, especially the staff member with a smile and obvious great character, that seemed to put a great glow around the area The same goes for the Staff at E.C.G. Where nothing seemed to be of any trouble to them.

Once again, Thanks, and sorry if I missed out anyone ( it’s me age you know !!! ) There are far too many waiting to throw stones at Staff, therefore I thought It may make a change for you all to hear a heartfelt THANK YOU.

Once again thank you very much Everyone. You all deserve Medals as big as Dustbin Lids

Your sincerely

Bert ( Albert ) Walker

Dear Mr Walker

Thank you for taking the time to submit your very kind comments onto the NHS Choices website following your experiences as a patient on Ward 28 at The James Cook University Hospital. I was delighted to receive such positive feedback regarding our staff and the care you have experienced during your stay. I will ensure your comments are shared with Ward 28, Ultra Sound, CT and MRI staff. I am sure they will be delighted to receive such positive feedback on their services.

It may interest you to know the trust runs a ‘Thank You Award’ scheme where NHS colleagues, patients and relatives can nominate staff in recognition of their work. These are presented throughout the year for acts above the call of duty, or where staff have shown exceptional kindness towards patients and their relatives. If you wish to make a nomination please either write to Ms Deborah Jenkins, Chairman, South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, The Murray Building, The James Cook University Hospital, Marton Road, Middlesbrough, TS4 3BW or email deborah.jenkins@stees.nhs.uk

We also welcome nominations for the Trust’s annual ‘Nightingale Awards’ which, once a year, recognise the important contribution nursing and midwifery staff make to patients and their families at The James Cook University Hospital or the Friarage Hospital on a day-to-day basis. Forms are available from the Director of Nursing & Patient Safety’s office on 01642 854344 or by emailing val.fothergill@stees.nhs.uk.

I would like to thank you again for your kind comments and offer you my best wishes for the future.

Yours sincerely

RACHEL GAFFNEY (MS)
