"The staff have a lot going for them."

My wife is currently in the Rookwood Unit (B) and has been there for about 4 weeks. Her treatment in this stroke unit has been excellent with her being kept informed and supported at every stage of treatment. The staff, brilliant though they are, seem to present an anomoly to the patients. They give the impression of being rushed off their feet while being readily available at the same time. They do have this rather annoying habit of wanting to do physio, or blood pressure checks, during the precious minutes of visiting time. They have 21 hours to do this, so why impose during the time when family and friends are there ? My wife is about to be turfed out, even though she is unable to walk unaided even with sticks or zimmer frame etc. I thought that treatment was in two parts i.e. treating the malady and restoring a level of mobility. They have fulfilled the first part brilliantly, but the second part, not at all. Still is still virtually bed bound. The thing that Chorley Hospital fails at miserably though, is monitoring the parking in the car parks. The areas in which the public can park, either during visiting or when visiting clinics, is severely limited. Staff with parking permits insist on parking in areas clearly signposted as being reserved for the public. For example, last Monday lunchtime, I arrived miles too early for visiting time and out of boredom, decided to check how many public spaces were being used by staff with NHS permits. The figure was 29%. I wrote an email to the hospital, complaining about this abuse by the staff, but never received the courtesy of a reply.
