"Seeking help for nasal problems"

About: NHS 24

(as the patient),

I have been experiencing nasal problems and upon looking on the NHS 24 website there were absolutely nothing of any use only go to your local pharmacy.

The problem I have is my nose constantly runs and I struggle to breathe when I snivel it really hurts my shoulder. I have had this problem for a few years and had no help at all now a new symptom has appeared and am now sneezing too which hurts my chest badly and blurs my vision in my right eye.

I searched everywhere on the NHS self-help website and to no avail now left with no choice but to go to my local A and E.

Dear cm55

Thank you for your posting and I am sorry to learn of your nasal issue. I am also sorry that you did not find our website helpful in providing information.

Given the symptoms you describe, and taking consideration that these have been present for some time, referral to a Pharmacist in the first instance, or your own GP for further investigation, is the most appropriate outcome. A medical professional is best placed to provide advice to assist you in managing your symptoms and referring you for the most appropriate treatment, if necessary.

I do hope that you receive the diagnosis and treatment required to assist your issue as I appreciate that this will be unpleasant for you.

With kind regards

Shona

Dear cm55

I am sorry that you found the website disappointing. The information contained within the NHS 24 and NHSInform websites is there to assist people in obtaining advice and guidance on their symptoms. The information contained on these sites is evidence based and is reviewed regularly.

A patient with ongoing long term issues, which are worsening, should always seek advice from a medical professional.
