"New system unfair for those who work/study/have mobility problems"

About: Surrey and Sussex

(as the patient),

I have been with Thorkhill GP Surgery all my life and have always found it reliable on the few occasions I have needed an appointment. I have always liked the option whereby you could call at 8am and request a same-day morning appointment or 2pm for an afternoon appointment, although I don't access this service very often it has proven to be useful. This service does still exist however they have changed the accessibility of these appointments as now patients are expected to queue outside the surgery at 8am and 2pm for the release of same-day appointments. I can still phone but I am told priority is given to those that queue outside and so for telephone callers no appointments exist.

This system seems incredibly unfair for those that work, or study, or for those that have mobility issues and can't get to the surgery.

I am sure I am not the only patient registered here that finds this system very frustrating.

I am trying to access an appointment to see my designated GP however I was unable to. I was offered an appointment with an alternative GP for three weeks time.

I am aware all GP surgeries are under immense pressures and are incredibly busy however they are a public service and this does not seem to be appropriate patient appointment management system.
