"Very well looked after"

About: Royal Albert Edward Infirmary / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

My ankle gave way under me causing me to fall and I was in horrendous pain when I rang 111, the paramedics suspected a broken Tib and Fib and gave me gas and air as they strapped me leg into a compression thing which look like an immersion heater lagging jacket. I was rushed to Wigan, where I was seen quite quickly and sent of to xray where nothing was found to be broken. Being unable to stand I was admitted to MAU where I stayed for several days being so very well looked after by absolutely everyone. The doctors and nurses were fantastic and I was diagnosed with a Soft tissue Injury. Everything was put in place for my return home under a re-enablement plan, so someone would come in 4 times a day and will be followed up by O. T. who will come and assess me.

Thank you for your posting about your recent experience at our Trust and in particular whilst on MAU. It was pleasing to learn that your treatment and care was of the highest standard and is what we would expect from our staff. I will pass your posting to the Head of Nursing for Medicine to share with the staff so they can view your posting at first hand.

May I take this opportunity to extend our best wishes for your continued recovery.

Kind regards
