I was booked in for an operation to repair a bowel and womb prolapse, which I also had done 3 years ago. I was asked to arrive at 9 am, I didnt have my op till 5. 30, and afterards I was left in recovery till 2. 30am, I was battered, bruised, tired and drained.
I got to the ward, and was "greeted" by night nurse staff, who were none to pleased to see me /attend to me at that time in the morning. The day nurses arrived at 7, and I have to say, were helpul and mostly lovey, I had expected to go home, but developed a bladder infection so had to remain in again overnight.
The night nurses arrived and once again, I was made to feel as though I was a burden to them, 1 in particular who gave the medicine was abrupt and positively rude to me. I questioned her about my medication which made things considerably worse for my time in there. She gave my an injection in my leg for dvt, and she jabbed it in so hard, my leg ached afterwards.
After this experience, I will never opt to go to southmead hospital in bristol ever again should I ever need to. The lady in question really should not be allowed to treat a patient like she did, she actually made me cry.
