Thank you to the NHS and St George's staff for a superb service I received for what looked like a scary experience. It was often the small touches by staff which made it special. Thanks to:
The delightful person who rang to book me in ensuring pre op appt avoided worst traffic coming into London: The pre op which ran like clockwork with excellent advice and written information from Specialist AF nurse: The Admissions Nurse who ensured my husband knew where to go:The porter who noticed I was cold in the anteroom and helped me move away from aircon: The Consultant and their team who reassured me providing clear information in a very friendly manner explaining their amazing equipment, especially the 3D: The Anaesthetist who managed to prevent me being sick: All the nurses on the ward after the procedure were lovely, noticing if I was cold or needed to drink more: The staff who kept toilets and basins beautifully clean and the catering staff who brought my meals.
In 1989, I had an operation in a NHS Hospital which was dirty, staff bullying other staff at night, nurses with long hair not tied up, physiotherapists refusing to work on male ward due to men patients smoking, food was awful and feedback was not encouraged. What fantastic progress has been made in all NHS hospitals I have been in recently, so thanks again.
