"Effective Help & Fast Waiting Times with Operations "

About: Tameside General Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

(as the patient),

I haven't had a need to be totally reliant on NHS Care a lot of the time.

The only basic support Op I have a need for is a long overdue Polyp Operation (causes nasal issues, difficulty breathing, possible headache)

It’s been overdue for I guess 5 Years. The aftercare support consisted of a nasal spray & tablets. But I have read via internet forums for this to be unstable & not the best way to provide care.

Is it correct with what was shown on a Documentary that I saw, that Operating Surgeons only work a few hours a week and that Theatres are only in use for a few hours a week because of this?

I don’t know if this is correct but if this is it could account why I have been waiting 5 Years + for a Polyp OP. & the same with other situations. Though I don’t know!

Please could you let me know what is being made to Upgrade & Support Peoples Health Care in difficult times like we have at the moment?

Thankyou! For Your Help!

Response from Philip Dylak, Director of Nursing, Tameside Hospital Foundation Trust

Thank you for posting this. I can assure you that our theatres, and our surgeons are fully employed. I would also assure you that in the NHS no one waits 5 years for a treatment which they need.

If you are not currently seeing one of our consultants as an out patient, can I suggest that you visit your GP in the first instance, so that you and they can discuss your treatment options, which may include a further referral to the hospital.

I hope this helps.

Best wishes

Philip Dylak
