"Possible scaphoid fracture"

After a fall, and injury to her hand and wrist, my wife went to the A&E at the Royal Gwent. An x-ray was taken within 2 hours. The subsequent wait for a doctor to review the x-ray was at 5 1/2hours and counting. After several requests for pain medication and a total of 7 1/2 waiting, my wife couldn't take the wait anymore and we decided to go home and recommence the following day. The next visit went a little smoother, a 2 hour visit resulted in her leaving with a splint on her wrist and the instructions to come back in 10 days for an MRI to check for a possible scaphoid fracture(the 10 days to allow swelling to go down). On the 10th day she went back to be informed that no notes were in her file about an MRI? ? ? She was requested to return in a further 5 days to have the MRI. Upon returning this time, a doctor seen to her. They informed her that she had been given the wrong splint( which she had been wearing for over 2 weeks). He asked if she had been removing the splint and exercising her wrist. This information was not given to her when the original splint had been provided and so the answer was no. The MRI machine was busy this day and again, a further 2 day wait was required( but at least with the correct splint this time). On what is I think was the 5 visit, an MRI was actually carried out. Expecting the results to come soon if not immediately, we were again disappointed. A further 12 days wait was needed for a doctor to see my wife. We are currently waiting for this appointment, which will be 27 days for somebody to tell my wife if she has a fracture before we move on to whatever steps are necessary to remedy her situation. At every step, we feel incredibly disappointed and appalled by the level of so called care given by the staff at the Royal Gwent. I feel that the waits are ridiculous, and this is compounded by poorly trained staff results in a complete loss of faith in the NHS service.
