"Excellent Inguinal Hernia Repair"

About: Kingston Hospital / General surgery

I must say how happy I am with my recent bilateral hernia repair at Kingston Hospital (4/10/16). As an inexperienced patient, though, I did have difficulty putting the medical gowns on and I had to scout around for several minutes to find a nurse to show me what to do. However, the friendly staff clearly explained the anaesthetic and surgical procedures and everything ran efficiently from then on. I was rolled promptly to the operating theatre; I had no trouble with the anaesthetic and I woke up under the care of friendly nurses in the recovery room. They gave me a satisfying meal in Alex Ward and then told me I was ready to go home when I had passed urine. I told a nurse I when had done so, but I was then really left to my own devices for the next two hours. It was hard to get anyone to come when I pressed the appropriate button. But aside from quibbles on the day of surgery, the operation seems to have been very successful. The initial pain has subsided quickly over the past eight days since surgery; the incisions in my abdomen are surprisingly small; and, most importantly, the hernia bulges have disappeared. I would like to give my heartfelt thanks to the surgical team and Kingston Hospital staff in general.
