I have been under ENT for the last 11 months and finally had my surgery on Monday. yes you can be waiting around for ages to go in for apps, tests etc, but when your having them the staff are amazing. It is the nhs, they are stretched. When I had my surgery, the Anaesthetists were reassuring and kind, I have a silly fear of needles and they were brilliant with it, my surgeon was the best I could ask for, a very talented surgeon, matter of fact and reassuring. Everything u could want in a surgeon. The surgeon came to see me as soon as I was awake and in the morning. Went through the whole operation with me and even showed me pictures (I asked to see them) was amazing. the recovery staff were simply wonderful, I woke up hallucinating and freezing the nurse who was with me really took care of me. I never felt alone even though through the whole thing I was terrified. the ward staff on dorrell ward were brilliant too and when I pressed my call button didn't have to wait long to be seen. The food was also surprisingly good, I also had my own room and it wasn't too hot in there. All in all I am very grateful to all the staff who treated me. And would like to thank them all very much. They all take pride in their job and it showed. The only problem which is the same across the whole nhs, is the waiting time to be seen. Just take a book or something and expect to wait.
