"X-ray Dept lunchtime unavailability."

About: Saffron Walden Community Hospital

Trying to book an X-ray was unexpectedly difficult. The reception telephone was unattended for an hour between 1-2. When asked, the receptionist said they were at lunch. There is an answer machine but they switch it off as it's so annoying to them when they're having lunch. This is pretty unacceptable customer service. Normal expectation is for cover to be provided, failing that, a message leaving facility should be in place.

This is a shame, as the rest of the experience was very good.
