"Excellent care from start to finish"

My Mother was admitted to the Royal Derby Hospital following a simple fall at home, which unfortunately resulted in a fractured Hip. Having worked at the Hospital for the past 30 years i knew the services were good, but i feel i need to write to report just how excellent the care was. Mums fall happened on a Sunday - she was given fantastic care from the Ambulance Parmedics in attendance, through to A&E where each stop of the way was very quick & efficient. She had been X rayed, and reviewed within a few hours of being there, the Orthopaedic Registrar was so kind & compassionate and by early evening Mum was on the orthopaedic Ward, awaiting Surgery. She had Surgery within 12 hours and by the following day was starting to take small steps. The Staff on Ward 205 were excellent, very kind & caring with Mum, always very cheerful & attentive to her. Nothing was too much trouble. Mum is now back home recovering and rehabilitating well, all thanks to the nursing & medical teams on the Ward! This whole experience as seen from the 'other side' of the coin, has certainly reaffirmed my belief that here in Derby we have a most excellent Hospital, and the NHS is something we should all be very proud of.
