"Amazing staff chaotic environment"

About: Frimley Park Hospital / Gynaecology

I attended the department on the 10.10.2016. Let me first say every member of staff was amazing and I could not fault the level of care or compassion.I attended the clinic due to a abnormal severe cell smear, after working myself into such a stressful state for 9 days I was not in a good mind space when attending. I was first taken back at the walls and scratch marks and level of disorder of the leaflets planted every where about pregnancy ( am I in the correct place) they were everywhere making the place look awful ang highlighting the walls they were trying to hide. It was so busy with children and expecting mums I could not think. Whilst in there I suffered my first ever panick attack, I stood up and said to my friend I'm going to die I could not breath or hear myself think, please bare in mind I had three pregnant people looking at me like I was crazy as they just assume I was there for the same as them. It took me about ten minutes to regulate my breathing whilst the whole time I was being stared at by families and children, the staff came to me and were lovely a credit to the department and told me the doctor won't be long. My reason for sharing my experience is I was really stressed out in the clinic and felt I was in the wrong environment as to my visit. I really hope my views are taking how they are meant, to highlight how I felt, pregnant women and women worried sick are an odd combination to pull together.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback,

I'm sorry to read that the environment was distressing for you.

Based on feedback similar to yours we are in the process of renovating the area, and separating patients waiting for gynaecology appointments from those waiting for antenatal appointments.

On Friday we have ordered temporary posters highlighting that the area is under renovation, and clear signage for the waiting areas.

We are in the process of reviewing all the information on display, and the area will be repainted.

Thank you for your kind words about the staff - we do have a great team who do their best for our patients every day

Kind Regards

Claire Marshall
