"Unfortunately not a lot but medical ..."

About: North Tyneside General Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

Unfortunately not a lot but medical staff in A+E and nurses in RATU were very kind, efficient and helpful.

What could be improved

Nursing staff forgot to carry out patients observations (blood pressure etc) even though two patients on the ward were to be monitored closely. They forgot to obtain container from lab for 24 hour urine collection even though the were reminded twice by medical staff and by myself. They also forgot to supply a patient with anti embolism stockings even when they were again reminded by medical staff twice and by myself. One of the nurses actually sent a text message to another nurse asking her to finally provide these after she had gone home. The next morning she tried to hide the fact she had forgotten when asked by medical staff. This mistake meant I had to stay longer in hospital to see if they had any effect. They tried to discharge me from hospital by mistake as they forgot I was waiting to see another doctor but wouldn't make my bed back up even though I was supposed to be sitting in it with my legs risen. They also made a mistake with my medication and tried to give me the wrong tablets and on one occasion refused to give me medication at the time it was due. As this was going on they spent their time complaining they were quiet and sitting in patients chairs reading their magazines!

Anything else?

Myself and my GP are still waiting to receive correspondence from the hospital providing information on my stay and test results etc as well as information about being referred to a specialist and the follow-up CT scan I am supposed to have.
