"Booked in for "urgent" biopsy"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

A complete waste of time! Seen by different members of the ENT and one didn't know what the other one was doing! I had to inform the doctor who referred me, who said i had a MASS at the back of my nose, that I had enlarged adenoids and that I had a CT scan. They didn't look at the scan, said I need an urgent biopsy - got a pre-op and a slot for the biopsy within a week - Fantastic! I thought! Told them i was diabetic - was told that they could give me a insulin drip to stabilise as this was urgent - yet again that urgent word. Sat for 4 hours - after starvation from 6am - and diabetic! - to be led to the other end of the hospital to have - yet another - tube up my nose - to be told by someone (who had not examined me) - that it was "only enlarged adenoids and not urgent. To give you a GA you could go into a coma". I asked why their colleague (in the same team" had said it was urgent and given me a week of worry. they "got it wrong, we need to remove them but not now". I walked back to the Day surgery and waited and waited... 2 chases and 2 hours later, finally given a crumpled paper and told to make an appointment with the diabetic clinic in the hospital! didn't see hide nor hair of the surgeon, anaesthetist or doctor again! Shocking treatment! by the ENT team.
