"Permanent support worker attitude toward patient"

About: North Middlesex Hospital / Gynaecology

Thursday 06/10/16 I had complex surgery is the most painful so I can have a second day, the member of staff came to see me I told them my mother will give me wash , the member of staff said it is my job to change you wash wash you,I said to them I have a problem I can discuss it here that is based my mum give me a wash and dress the rest of them you can do it. The member of staff was angry angry they refused to change my bed and I pull the cord and second agency staff came they said to the original member of staff someone want you, they looked at their face and smile,

I told the agency worker, your assistant refused to help me because I told them not to give me a washed, the agency person said there is nothing in file to say u can't get wash by an assistant, I told them is private and I can not share in front of everyone in this ward. Agency person help me to the toilet.

Lunch time, a member of staff came in and said to the original member of staff, can you tell bed 12 that, I can't give her dinner because her board said soft diet, in their defence they were right, but, the doctor told them I can eat, so they took the list off food I wanted to eat in the morning, so why now, I call back , what did you say about me, they said, I can't give you food because you are on soft diet.i said ok, since them very support career, was given me attitudes, i was so hungry told the ward manager about what is going on, they said that is not acceptable in this ward. They call them in, spoke to the two main carers, I don't know what the manager told them, The staff came out of the office laughing. I tried to called the site manager and was told, they will come and see me. They didn't come also. We are here because we need their support.

Thank you for your feedback.

I am glad that you spoke with the ward manager and it would seem from your comments that she had spoken with the staff involved. So sorry that you had a poor experience.

I am the managing director for gynaecology services, elizabeth.raidan@nhs.net and will be discussing your comments with the team.
