"Sincere care"

About: Good Hope Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as a relative),

My Step Dad was taken to ward 8 and was in a coma for 6 days before he sadly passed away. Although this was an extremely distressing time, we felt he was receiving the best possible care from all the nurses on this ward. Nothing was too much trouble and he was regularly checked, cleaned with sincere care and we were kept informed more from the nurses than anyone. Although the nurses see this day in and day out, we never felt that they were just doing their job. We felt that they really did care about our situation. We were also taken care of for the hours we spent there for that week and when we needed a break, we knew he was being looked upon. Thank you for all being so kind and caring, It meant so much to us. Thank you.

Dear Angel 1

May I firstly offer you and your family my sincere condolences on the sad loss of your Step Father, I'm so sorry for your loss.

Thank you so much for your kind feedback regarding the care given to your Step-Father at such a sad time.

I'm so pleased that you felt he received the best possible care from all of the nursing staff on Ward 8, and that they were all kind and caring to you and your family at all times. Clear communication is so important at such a difficult time and feedback such as yours is so important to us. I will ensure that your kind comments are highlighted to the Ward Manager and Matron who will ensure that it is communicated to all of the team who work very hard to provide high quality patient care.

I hope my actions are acceptable and once again thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback, it is most appreciated and extremely important to us.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Kindest regards

Marie Helebert
