"Community Care Crisis- Highlands"

About: NHS Highland (Health)

(as a carer),

My parents live near Nairn and are elderly and both have dementia. My father has spinal degeneration and therefore poor mobility and constant pain. Since last December our family have tried to secure community care support for them at home. The care we currently have is 1 hour per week split over two days. We have been battling a total lack of resources since then and are now at a crisis point again as my father fell last month and needs more help. I have contacted every agency I can find to ask for support and the answer is always that they do not have any staff available to help. I have written to NHS Highland on 2 occasions the last being April, and was told then things were improving. I have just written for a 3rd time to complain again about lack of resources and have copied to the MSP and Health Secretary.
