"Lack of facilities on a Sunday"

About: Kidderminster Treatment Centre - Acute Trust

(as the patient),

I had an appointment for a colonoscopy on a Sunday. Firstly no directions and no one about to tell us where to go. I cannot fault the care and courtesy I received from the consultant and nursing once we found them they truly looked after me during my he procedure and through the 2 stages of recovery. And I greatly thank the team for seeing me under the 2 week rule appointment.

BUT there were no facilities not even a drinks machine for my husband during the two and half hours I was there. I found the waiting area was deeply depressing certainly seen better days and no facilities at all not even a water fountain, news paper, magazine or leaflet to look at.

This hospital in the new areas and usual weekdays is a great hospital but with the drive to 7 day working I think more thought must be put into patient and visitor facilties, bring the older parts up to standard and make weekend treatment as good as Monday to Friday

Many thanks for providing us with your feedback. I am glad that the care you received from our staff was of the high quality that we expect. I am sorry that you felt that our facilities were not as good as they could have been during your visit. A lot of work is currently taking place to improve our outpatients waiting areas with a schedule for redecoration, new signage , TV screens and provision of reading material.

Unfortunately we do not currently have café facilities at Kidderminster at weekends. However we do have vending machines in the main entrance for drinks and snacks and I apologise if these were not working.

Kind regards
