"Life saving care"

About: Royal Stoke University Hospital / Cardiothoracic surgery

I recently spent 12 days in Stoke having undergone the removal of my pericardium. I spent 8 days in critical care where I received wonderful treatment. The staff were extremely efficient, hardworking and very reassuring. I have nothing but praise for the surgeon who performed a life saving operation on me. What a wonderful person, their skill gave me back my life. My grateful thanks to the whole coronary team and the care I also received on ward 223. Too many people are eager to run down the NHS, but without it where would we all be.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience of our Critical Care Unit and Ward 223. I do hope you are continuing to recover well from your surgery.

I have forwarded your lovely feedback to the Matrons and Ward Managers for both wards to share with their teams. It really does make a difference to our staff to hear that patient's have had a positive experience on our wards.

Thank you once again,

With best wishes

Rebecca Smith, Quality Improvement Facilitator: Patient Experience.
