"Fantastic birth and postnatal experience"

After a low risk pregnancy I had a straightforward delivery at C+W's birth centre, followed by manual extraction of placenta and subsequent recovery at the labour ward. At all three - birth centre, operating theatre and obstetric care and recovery in the ward - care, professionalism and support were outstanding. my midwife stayed with us from the first assessment until after I left the op theatre and settled in the recovery with baby and husband. During the labour I had support of three midwives and a doula, who were all very supportive, responsive to my wishes, courteous and professional. Most importantly they helped me deliver my baby out safely, quickly and effectively, avoiding any interventions. I used thr pool in my room to dilate and do some pushing to start with and then was helped to make the best use of facilities in the room to deliver my baby. An obstetrician was called to help manually retrieve the placenta at the birth centre. The obstetrician judged the operation to be necessary. There was no wait for the theatre and I was taken into the labour ward for my operation. All staff including two anaesthetists, the obst and my midwife introduced themselves, explained the procedure, checked and rechecked how I was doing and treated me with utmost courtesy and professionalism. The recovery team were also courteous, attentive and checked on us regularly. The post natal ward where we moved later on was also jmotrssive. Both the birth centre and the ward were clean, I could move freely and so could my partner, and at all times we had attention of staff if I needed it. Food was fine - large choice of main meals and desserts. We would definitely recommend C+W to all expectant mums and their families.
