"Waited 3 hours for a 10.30am appointment"

About: Good Hope Hospital / Maternity care

We arrived on time for a 10.30am appointment with the consultant. We saw the consultant 3 hours later at around 1.30pm. At no point whilst we waited did anybody seek to advise us there were any issues and we receieved limited information when enquired if there was a problem, first at 11.30am after waiting an hour, and then about 1pm when we were advised we were next up - but someone else then went before us, so that was not the case. The eventual meeting with the consultant was useful and we have no issues with this, but are clearly disappointed at the length of the wait and the information provided during the wait, so provide this feedback in the hope it can be avoided for ourselves and others in the future.

Response from Marie Helebert, Patient Services Officer, Patient Services, Heart of England Foundation Trust

Dear Anonymous

Thank you for your comments regarding your patient experience in Maternity Care at Good Hope Hospital.

I am sorry to read that you experienced an extended wait to be seen by your Consultant. Whilst at times, unavoidable delays are encountered, I appreciate that you feel 3 hours past your appointment is an unacceptable wait, as well as a lack of information as to the reasons why; I would like the opportunity to look into this in more detail. Can I ask you to contact me at your convenience on 0121 424 0808 or by email: marie.helebert@nhs.net so that I may obtain some more information? I would be most grateful and look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards

Marie Helebert
