"Difficulty getting appointments in neurology"

About: Charing Cross Hospital / Neurology

My son has been attending the neurology department at Charing Cross for some time. When he is seen by his consultant the appointment goes well and he feels he is listened to and respected. The impossible issue with the department is getting appointments and communication. He has finally been given a treatment that helps his severe daily headaches (botox) and needs the injections at least 3 monthly. It is getting a 3 monthly appointment that is so difficult. He has just been offered one after 6 months rather than 3. He is in severe pain every day once the botox wears off so how can he be left for 6 months. I make many phone calls to try and move appointments forward but I cannot find out when the botox appointments are available. The appointments line have offered an appointment in October via telephone today but without knowing whether it is for a consultation or botox how can we take advantage of that slot which I was told must be a cancellation. We are not local so could not risk a wasted trip and time off work without complete information so are currently waiting for a call back from the secretary. If we cannot get an appointment by November latest we are going to try and get the injections privately because there is no other choice.
