Following experiencing chest pain and summoning an ambulance, I was examined and consequently admitted to Nelson Ward at the hospital. From the time of my admission, to my discharge five days later, my experience was a very positive one. The treatment and care I received whilst at the hospital made me proud of the system of health care which is extended to citizens of this country. From the auxiliary staff, to the doctor who used their skills to repair a defect in the arteries supplying my heart, I felt that I was entrusting my well-being to people who knew what they were doing and who cared about the outcome that they were working together to obtain for me. Not only were these people carrying out their roles with skill, thoroughness and dedication, but they all showed an awareness of my humanity and a desire to do whatever was within their power to make my experience as positive as was possible.
"they showed an awareness of my humanity"
