"A&E on a busy Sunday"
About: Stoke Mandeville Hospital / Accident and emergency Stoke Mandeville Hospital Accident and emergency Aylesbury HP21 8AL
On Sunday 18 September my mum was unwell experiencing symptoms the same as when she had a minor heart attack in 2003. I took her the the A&E department. When we arrived I was shocked as to how busy.
I admit my first thoughts were this is not good but from the first point of contact with a member of staff any concerns were forgotten. The level of care and service was top notch. Throughout the afternoon we interacted with a large team who together and individually were professional and caring. They carried out a number of tests and spent time to give us the comfort of knowing she hadn't had a heart attack but made certain we understood what was wrong. i read so often horror stories and complaints about the NHS and SMH but my experience confirms for me what I have always believed and that is we are so very lucky in the UK to have this service on our doorstep. And that whatever the challenges the front line staff seek to deliver a very high standard of care. It maybe sometimes things don't always go according to plan but I don't believe that's is because the staff are not trying the very best. So thank you to the staff on duty that day and thank you to the NHS. I believe in you and I believe in my local hospital. We the public are very very lucky to have you there for us when we most need you..
