"A confused old lady treated with care"

About: Good Hope Hospital / Accident & emergency

My 86 year old mother was admitted at lunchtime today after she was found rotally unresponsive in her care home. From the nurses and doctors in A&E to the small team in CDU to those on the Discharge Lounge I can only offer my praise and thanks.Mum who when she did 'come round' was treated with mothing but kindness and dignity. Once tests had neen completed she was given both food and liquids and when on the Discharge Lounge she said she would love a cup of coffee. One was quickly produced along with some custard creams.A big thank you from a worried son you offer a tremendous standard of care and compassiob

Dear Colin G

Thank you so much for your kind comments about the treatment and care given to your mother at Good Hope Hospital's Accident and Emergency Department, and the Discharge Lounge.

I will be delighted to ensure that your feedback is highlighted to the Emergency Department Matron, as well as the Clinical Director and the Senior Nursing Management for Discharge Lounge who will be thrilled to read your feedback and ensure it is communicate it to all of their respective teams who work very hard in often difficult circumstances and pressures to provide a positive patient experience. Feedback such as yours is very important to us as it allows us to identify when services and systems work well, but equally with less favourable experiences, it allows us to identify where there may be an issue and take steps to prevent repetition.

I hope my actions are acceptable and once again thank you so much for taking the time to provide your comments, your views and feedback as a worried relative are very valuable to us. I do hope your Mother is feeling better.

Kindest regards

Marie Helebert
