"As a family we cannot thank everyone enough"

About: Centre for Integrative Care (formerly Glasgow Homeopathic Hospital)

(as a relative),

My mother law was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and after receiving radiotherapy and chemotherapy, not long after the treatment finished, she developed some problems with her back After going to various doctors and chiropractitioners, all to no avail, she was advised to seek help from the NHS Centre for Integrative Care. She was admitted for one week, after this one week she came home pain free and had a spring in her step. Tragically, her cancer spread and she was diagnosed with brain, lung and bone cancer and was admitted to a conventional hospital, however, after being told, on her own, with no family by her side to comfort her that her cancer was terminal and also being in a ward with alcoholics, drug users she requested that we contact the NHS Centre for Integrative Care to see if they could help her. She was welcomed with open arms, at her time of need, she felt the consultants and staff were better placed to look after her.

My mother in law spent her last remaining months looked after by the consultants and the staff. There was no element of her care that we could fault, if anything everyone went above and beyond to ensure my mother in law passed away with her self respect and dignity intact. As a family we cannot thank everyone enough, we will be eternally grateful that she passed peacefully in the care of the NHS Centre for Integrative Care. I would therefore ask that the MSP's put care before money and keep this wonderful facility open.

I work in a small team within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. Part of the team’s role is to support patients and carers through our feedback systems which will help to improve the services we provide. On Patient Opinion, I support Lorna Gray, Patient Experience Public Involvement Project Manager, and Niall McGrogan, Head of Patient Experience Public Involvement.

Dear Bobt

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your mother in law. I can tell from what you have shared here on Patient Opinion how much she meant to you and your family. I am pleased to read that the care provided by our staff in the Centre for Integrative Care made a difference to your mother in law especially that she was provided with dignity and respect.

I will ensure that your feedback is shared with the staff in the Centre for Integrative Care, they will appreciate your kind words.

My thoughts are with your and your family at this time.

Best wishes
Lisa
