"Why the high parking fees?"

About: Southend Hospital / Older people's healthcare

My father is currently in Southend Hospital, he is very old and frail, he does not have long to live. I live overseas and my personal circumstances prevent me from being with him. He has one friend who visits and sits quietly with him, even though he may not know she is there, she feels this gives him comfort and she is able to be there in my stead. However, she is prevented from visiting on a more regular basis as the parking cost is extremely high. I appreciate the excellent care my father is receiving but fail to understand why the family and friends, of those patients who need extended stays, are penalised for their loyalty and kindness.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your post and we are sorry to hear about your Father's circumstances.

Just to inform the visitor - there is a cheaper weekly 7 day concession ticket that can be purchased for visitors of patients that are in hospital which costs £10.

These tickets can be purchased from the General Office at the hospital or you can ask her to speak to the ward who know about this also.

I hope this helps and the ticket can be purchased straight away.

Regards,

Patient Involvement Team
