Recent bunion op went very well, day case, all staff and surgeon were wonderful. Hardly any pain. Grateful to have the operation. Waited over 8 days for outpatient appointment. Had to phone 5 times to Trafford General and Manchester Royal Infirmary as dressing needed changing after 2 wks. Got appointment at Trafford General 2wks after surgery, if I hadn't phoned wouldn't have had follow up. I knew procedure as had same op on other foot last yr. At outpatient appoint asked if I should have x ray as I did last yr, after waiting almost 2 hrs Dr said I need x ray, I could have had this earlier and saved all the staff having to wait until I returned from x ray. Who is supposed to arrange the outpatient appointments and any x rays required, when you leave hospital after your op. One other comment, there are far too many overweight staff, they should all be made to watch a recent TV programme on type 2 diabetes, the hospital should lead by example, in the health of their staff. The hospital was clean, inviting and the staff on the ward were wonderful, just the failure on the appointments.
"Good hospital let down by poor administration"
