"the crazy state of the neurological department."

About: King's Mill Hospital / Neurology

I have been attending this department for over 21 years for Botox injections as I suffer from a rare brain condition called spasmodic torticollis, this causes certain muscles in my body to go into painful spasms also causing the head, neck and upper body to be distorted, the treatment for this condition is to have injections every three months this does not cure the problem but does help to make life better,as anyone with this condition will tell you it can be very distressing especially when the hospital will not give a appointment to me because the clerical staff have made mistakes with the clinics no fault of mine as I have handed the appointment sheet to the appropriate staff what the neurologist handed to me on the day of my injections, this sheet was signed by the neurologist to make an appointment for three months time as we have been doing for the last 21 years,I have just come off the phone to the secretary who deals with this department who is told me I cannot attend the clinic for my injections as the clinic is booked up,I have asked to speak to their manager as I am getting very frustrated and concerned that I will not get my treatment,The original neurologist that I used to see always tells us we must not get worked up or frustrated as this increases the problem of the condition. It would help if the people who are dealing with the appointments for the clinics where educated about this.

Thank you for your message and comments about the care you received while at King's Mill Hospital. Feedback is important to us and helps us understand where care and patients' experiences of hospital can be improved. It would be useful if we could discuss your comments in more detail so would ask if it is possible for you to contact our Patient Experience Team on 01623 672222 or by email at pet@sfh-tr.nhs.uk
