Yesterday I had an appointment at the Leeds General Infirmary in the Clarendon Wing for a flexible signmoid in my colostomy stoma and rectal stump.
I have had Crohn's disease for 32 yrs so should be used to these by now.
I was really dreading the appointment, things don't seem to get any easier with age! .
I was met by a nurse who reassured me I would be well looked after and talked me through things even though I had had this done before I was still very uneasy.
I was quickly put at ease and felt calmer once I spoke with the young cheerful nurse, really was a lovely young woman.
I was told I needed an enema in my stoma which I wasn't pleased about as I knew the bowel had a "loop" in under my hernia. The nurse told me to get changed and the nurse who was going to do the scope came to do the enema, only a small amount went in but it wasn't painful at all.
I then went into the room for the procedure to be done, it was painless and I was slightly sedated it seemed over with in no time at all, biopsies were taken and it was soon over.
Margo, kind compassionate lovely lady, so we're Nurse Ella, Miriam and the other lady in recovery who made me some tea afterwards. Thankyou all x
